Type Locality and Naming

Along Mashrapsay, Kuramin Range. B.N. Nasledov, I.V. Belov in 1942 (457, p. 87, 90).

Synonym: Mashrapsay Suite, Машрапская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerates, gravellites, sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 30-850m. M.A. Akhmedjanov, N.I. Ishnazarov (210) note the lateral facies instability of the suite and the appearance of volcanomictic sandstones in its composition

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It unconformably overlies terrigenous deposits of the Paleozoic (165; 441)

Upper contact

It is overlain by the Mogotau Fm (the nature of the contact is unclear).

Regional extent

Kuramin Range, Mogoltay and Bariktyntay mountains.

Age 

Its age is interpreted differently by various researchers. Some refer it to the Eifelian (457); others (78,460) - to the early Givetian based on the fact that it is overlain by the Mogoltay suite of the Givetian, some (166) assign it to the early-middle Devonian undivided; or (441) - to the Eifelian or early Givetian.
